Mission Statement of the Since 1957, the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association has been dedicated to finding the causes of and cures for muscle disease and providing the best patient services program to those we serve. The Chapter currently participates in the world-wide research program supporting research grants at Washington University in St. Louis and University of Kansas and other important projects being conducted in research centers across the United States. Progress is continually being made bring us closer to finding causes and developing treatments that have led to increased lifespans and hope for the future. The Chapter provides those it serves with needed equipment and repairs, an annual Summer Camp at Camp Windermere on the Lake of the Ozarks for kids 6-17, a year-round free clinic at St. John’s Hospital, and support groups for patients and caregivers living with muscle disease. All MDA’s services are provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of the people of the Ozarks that support events like the Festival of Hope. |
